Maartje van Krieken

With 25 years of international experience in oil & gas, disaster management and innovation, Maartje van Krieken specializes in helping energy companies navigate complexity, whether through crisis recovery, project execution, or strategic transformation. She has led diverse, multi-continental teams in regions as varied as the USA, Iraq, Sakhalin, and India, managing full-cycle delivery of large-scale field development, capital projects, and innovation programs. Known for fixing dysfunctional collaborations and restoring project momentum, Maartje brings operational discipline and people-savvy leadership to even the most tangled challenges.

A former Shell leader, she’s held senior roles in field development, project management,  contracting & procurement, technology implementation, and HSSE management. Her track record includes overseeing due diligence for joint ventures, strategic overhaul of regional HUB and project teams, and embedding contractor performance systems in volatile environments. She has also led disaster recovery efforts, including the triage and reboot of a multinational startup amid SEC investigations, and is trained in FEMA disaster response through the Red Cross.

Maartje is the founder of The Chaos Games Consulting and host of The Business Emergency Room podcast, which explores how businesses overcome disruption and rebuild resilience. She sits on several boards and advises cleantech and innovation ventures. At Floris Energy, she combines global energy expertise with turnaround precision to help clients deliver under pressure and lead with clarity.
